Membership questions

- Is there a free trial?
- Yes. Every new account starts with 30 days of full access — free, and no card is needed. Your Membership page shows the day your trial ends. Payment only begins if you choose to continue after the trial, and you can cancel at any time. If you have a book access code, redeeming it adds three more months of full access on top of your trial.
- How do I start a membership?
- Sign in, open the Membership page and choose “Start monthly membership”. A secure checkout window opens where you enter your card details. When you return, the page confirms your payment on its own within a few seconds — there is no need to pay again if it takes a moment.
- What does membership cost?
- Every account starts with 30 days of full access — free, with no card needed. After that, membership is $5.00 USD a month for 8 months, and $9.99 USD a month from then on.
- Why does the price move from $5.00 USD to $9.99 USD?
- The lower rate is an introductory welcome for your first 8 paid months. Once those months are complete, your next renewal continues at $9.99 USD a month. We email you about two weeks beforehand, so the change is never a surprise, and your Membership page always shows how many introductory months you have used.
- Will you remind me before a payment is taken?
- Yes. We send a short email a few days before each renewal with the date, the amount and a link to review or update your payment details.
- How do I redeem my book access code?
- On the Membership page, enter the code in “Have a book access code?”. Three months of full access are added to your account straight away, on top of any free trial time you still have.
- How do I update my card?
- Choose “Manage billing or cancel” on the Membership page. That opens the secure billing portal run by our payment provider, where you can change your card, view invoices or cancel. We never see or store your card details.
- How do I cancel?
- Use “Manage billing or cancel” on the Membership page and choose to cancel. There is no notice period and no cancellation fee.
- What happens to my access when I cancel?
- You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for. The Membership page shows that date under “Access runs until”. After it passes, your account stays open in read-only form: your reflections and discussions remain, and you can restart membership whenever you wish.
- What does read-only access mean?
- You can still sign in, read the guide, and read your own past reflections and the chapter discussions. Writing new reflections and posting in discussions require an active membership.
- Who handles my payment?
- Payments are handled by our reseller, Paddle, who acts as the Merchant of Record and appears on your statement. See our Terms and refund policy for the full details.
