Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account information — your email address and, if you provide one, your display name.
• Your reflections — the messages you write in reflection sessions and the coach's replies, so you can pause and return later.
• Discussion posts — threads and replies you choose to share with other members.
• Voice recordings — if you use voice-to-text, your audio is sent for transcription and is not stored by us afterwards; only the resulting text is saved.
• Optional AI provider key — if you add your own key, it is stored privately against your account and used only for your own reflections.
• Basic technical data — sign-in timestamps and error logs needed to keep the app secure and working.

How we use it

We use your information only to run the app: to sign you in, save and show your reflections, run discussion groups, generate coach responses, and diagnose problems. We do not sell your information, and we do not use your reflections for advertising.

Who else is involved

• Our hosting and database provider stores your account and content securely on our behalf.
• AI providers receive the text of your reflection messages in order to generate a response. If you have added your own key, this is the provider you chose.
• Our email provider sends account emails such as confirmations and password resets.

These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your content for their own purposes.

Keeping your information safe

Access to your reflections is restricted to your own account through database-level security rules. Data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

How long we keep it

We keep your reflections and posts while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal reflections and account details within 30 days, except where we must keep records to meet a legal obligation. Discussion posts may remain visible with your name removed unless you ask us to delete them too.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it. You can remove your AI provider key at any time from your Profile page. To make a request, email privacy@themarcusaureliusinstitute.com. We respond within 30 days. If you are in Canada and are unhappy with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Cookies

We use only the storage needed to keep you signed in and to preserve an unsaved reflection draft on your own device. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Children

The app is not intended for people under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
