Terms of Use

1. Who may use the app

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into an agreement in your country of residence. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide when you create an account.

2. Your account

Keep your password private and do not share your account. Please tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• post content that is harassing, hateful, discriminatory, threatening or unlawful;
• share other people's private information without their permission;
• copy, resell, scrape or republish app content, including chapter reflections and prompts;
• attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the app;
• use the app to provide clinical, legal or financial advice to others.

Discussion groups are shared spaces. We ask everyone to contribute respectfully and inclusively, and to assume good faith in others.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the reflections and discussion posts you write. You grant us a limited licence to store, display and process that content solely to operate the app for you — for example, saving your reflection history and showing your posts to other members of a discussion group you post in.

5. AI features

The reflection coach is generated by artificial intelligence. Its responses may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation. They are prompts for your own thinking, not professional advice. Please see our Safety notice. If you connect your own AI provider key, your use of that provider is also governed by that provider's own terms.

6. Availability and changes

We may add, change or remove features, and we may suspend the app for maintenance. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in the app.

7. Ending your access

You may stop using the app and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or end access where these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, or where required by law.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, The Marcus Aurelius Institute is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profit or goodwill arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute.

Work Smarter Live Better Companion — its content, reflection prompts and design — is the intellectual property of Keith David Whalen.
